Because the winter was so mild in this region, there is a good chance that the summer months are going to be hotter and drier. Longer spells of hot, dry weather can cause the foliage that pests usually live in and nest in to dry up. When these natural habitats aren’t available for pests, they will be seeking refuge in other places. For many, this means that your home is going to become more appealing to them. They will not only be looking for a place to nest, but they will also be seeking water as well. Taking measures to keep pests out of your home is going to be important as the weather is hot and dry this summer.
Variation in Moisture Causes Issues with Pests
When the weather is no abnormal, it can mean that there might be periods of heavy moisture as well. We know how quickly a thunderstorm can come along and leave us with flooded streets. When this happens, it can cause pests and rodents that are used to burrowing to seek your home from refuge as flooding happens. On the flip side, when moisture isn’t plentiful, they will be looking for the moisture they need in your home as well.
