German cockroaches are about ½ inch to 5/8 inch long. Their color is tan to a light brown. They have an oval shaped body, 6 legs, and antennas on them. They have two lines on their back that are almost parallel to each other. They do have wings, but they rarely use them. Most of the time they will just run away.
Can You Get Sick from German Cockroaches?
These German cockroaches can be very gross bugs. Now they do not bite or sting, so they aren’t dangerous in that way. But they can carry many diseases on their bodies and in their feces that can cause diarrhea, salmonella, or other health problems. The allergens from the dead skin can cause allergic reactions in some people or could cause an asthma attack.
How Do You Know if You have a German Roach Infestation?
Are you wondering how to tell if you have German cockroaches in your home or building? Cockroaches will leave fecal streak marks in the rooms they are in. Plus black droppings that look a lot like pepper grounds. There will be a musty odor in the room that they are in also. You will probably find cockroach skins and of course, you will find a lot of cockroaches. They can reproduce very quickly and lay 20 to 40 eggs at a time. This means an infestation can happen very fast if you don’t do anything about it.
